Question 1

What is an MSP and why do schools need one?

Accepted Answer

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a company that remotely manages a school's IT infrastructure and systems on a proactive basis. Schools need MSPs because they provide expert-level IT support without the cost of hiring full-time IT staff, ensure systems are always monitored and maintained, reduce downtime, improve security, and allow educators to focus on teaching rather than troubleshooting technology issues. For faith-based schools with limited budgets, an MSP delivers enterprise-quality IT management at a fraction of the cost.

Question 2

How much do MSP services cost for a school?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the number of users and devices, the support hours, and the security and backup services included. Some providers price per user; others offer a flat monthly agreement. Ask for an itemized proposal that lists what is covered, what costs extra, and how the agreement can be changed or ended.

Question 3

What's the difference between break-fix IT and managed services?

Accepted Answer

Break-fix IT is reactive—you call for help only when something breaks, paying per incident with unpredictable costs and extended downtime. Managed services are proactive—we continuously monitor your systems, apply updates, and prevent problems before they occur. This means consistent monthly costs, minimal downtime, better security, and technology that supports rather than interrupts learning.

Question 4

How quickly can you respond to IT emergencies?

Accepted Answer

Response times depend on the service level and severity defined in your agreement. Before signing, confirm support hours, who answers after-hours incidents, how urgent cases are escalated, and what response and resolution targets are documented.

Question 5

Will you work with our existing technology and software?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We're experienced with the full range of educational technology including student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Apple devices, Chromebooks, interactive whiteboards, and specialized educational software. Our goal is to enhance your existing investments, not replace them unnecessarily.

Question 6

How do you ensure data privacy for student records?

Accepted Answer

Start by identifying what student data each system holds and which access controls, encryption, vendor terms, and retention rules it needs. FERPA generally applies to schools receiving applicable U.S. Department of Education funding; most private K-12 schools are not covered. Confirm your school's actual legal obligations with qualified counsel and specify the IT provider's data-handling responsibilities in writing.
